The band’s second LP, ‘Beacon’, followed in 2012 and hit #2 in the UK Albums Chart, before dropping ‘Gameshow’ in 2016. I don’t know. Two Door Cinema Club are a Northern Irish indie band from Bangor and Donaghadee, County Down, consisting of Alex Trimble, Kevin Baird, and Sam Halliday.įormed in 2007, the band released their debut album, ‘Tourist History’, in 2010, which won the Choice Music Prize for the Irish Album of the Year. Although, you might have a completely different music taste to me and hate every song I’ve put on this list. I have two more playlists on their way for this year. One thing I noticed when making this playlist is that although I think all of the songs sound fantastic, some of them have quite dark lyrics that I didn’t even realise existed. You can also find this in a handy playlist on my Spotify so if you want to follow that, as well as all my other playlists, click here. So, here are ten songs that can’t help but make me feel good. I’m going to start creating playlists for different occasions and genres, the first of which is songs that leave me feeling great. Some of these songs have only recently come under my radar, maybe in the last couple of years, and some of them are here purely for the nostalgic factor. One thing I want to talk more about on my blog this year is music. One to watch in 2017 – Nothing But Thieves– I was fortunate enough to see NBT live this year, and judging by the couple of songs that they played from their unreleased album, I can’t wait to hear some new stuff from them in 2017. The Strokes – For getting me back into music I listened to when I was a bit younger, even though back then I had no idea what they were called. Lorde – For being an artist I can get back into after not listening to them for a long time. Tom Odell – For sheer talent and raw music that I can always somehow relate to.Įlbow – For an incredible, unique sound that’s always so put together. Rufus Wainwright – For somehow making me listen to a genre of music that is normally nowhere near my music taste. Also for hosting the most relaxed, feel good gig I’ve ever been to. HONNE – For releasing an album that made my year in terms of music. I love Two Door’s older stuff but this new album has massively grown on me.Ĭigarettes After Sex – For having such an illuminating and utterly relaxing sound. Two Door Cinema Club – For taking a slightly different sound route on their latest album. Saw them live this month and they were just epic.įoals – For their seamless immersive music and brilliant newest album. Mixed by Phillip Zdar, his vision was to punch up the beat with rich bass and foot-stomping rhythm. Red Hot Chili Peppers – For some classic funk rock and their great new album. Following in the footsteps of French dance-pop phenomena Phoenix and 80s icon Duran Duran, Two Door Cinema Club recorded their debut 2010 album Tourist History at Eastcote Studios in London. As always, I’ve put a link on each artists name to one of my favourite songs, so if you’ve never heard of them you can get a little insight. So, for the third annual edition of ‘The Music Of’, Here’s 10 bands and artists that made my 2016. As hectic as 2016 was, both personally and worldwide (…let’s not get into that though), I can never give up on my music.
